Texas loses hundreds of rural acres daily, which means hundreds of thousands of acres annually. The best way to keep ranchers ranching and farmers farming while maintaining and improving wild animals and places is to help landowners to be the most economically profitable, ecologically friendly, and doing so with what we love. This means providing the highest quality, most informed, and situationally tailored property management strategies. As a 7th generation Texan, landowner, and wildlife biologist, Dr. Chase Nunez embodies Texas values and incorporates them in his life and work.

Animal trapping, capturing, and handling has long been a passion of Dr. Nunez. With experience from elephant mosquitos to African elephants, white-footed deer mice to white-tailed deer, rattlesnakes to ratites, there is no wildlife that we can’t handle. A master’s degree in pharmacology and years of researching wildlife capture drug combinations, treatment protocols, and handling techniques has promoted an improved understanding of the available drugs, how they work, species-specific recommendations, and the associated risks with various drugs and species. Dr. Nunez is a contract wildlife biologist and capture consultant for Wedgewood Pharmacy (previously Wildlife Pharmaceuticals/ZooPharm) and continues to research and publish pharmacological scientific articles with co-authors, Dr. Walter Cook (Texas A&M University) and Dr. Logan Thomas (Kansas State University).

Our licensed commercial drone pilots offer insight and experience in the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), or drones, for services related to land, livestock, wildlife, and more. Drones are a rapidly advancing technology influencing industries worldwide, and with the assistance of high definition and thermal cameras, drones rival any aerial surveillance techniques and technology in their ability to be discrete or conspicuous, simultaneously monitor, record, and flip between a high definition 4K color imaging camera and thermal camera, and cost-effectiveness. We can thoroughly cover approximately 100-200 acres per hour, depending on vegetation, topography, flight mission(s), time of day and year, animal densities, etc., and can do so at a fraction of the cost of fixed-wing airplane or helicopter surveys. Furthermore, thermal drone deer counts can result in more accurate population size and demographic estimations than other census methods (manned aerial counts, spotlight counts, game-camera surveys, etc.). Drones and aerial photography and videography can be useful for so much more– a list of some of the uses and services are listed below.
*The use of aircraft (including UAVs) for counting, capturing, photographing, etc. of native or exotic wildlife requires written permission from Texas Parks and Wildlife Department via an Aerial Wildlife Management Permit.
